BEIRUT, Mar. 20 -- On March 19, local time, the 22nd Chinese Peacekeeping Multi-role Engineering Company to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was invited to hold the Chinese language training course at a middle school in southern Lebanon.
At the opening ceremony, teachers from the Chinese peacekeeping force first organized the students to watch a video on Chinese civilization titled CHN. Then, Zou Tao, a translator of the peacekeeping force, began his first lecture on daily expressions in Chinese.
It is reported that the Chinese language training course was set up at the invitation of Housain Shebly, principal of the middle school. The two-month Chinese language training course includes the study of the Chinese phonetic alphabet, introduction to Chinese characters, Chinese daily expressions, and lessons on traditional Chinese culture.
Li Xinfu, a team leader of the contingent, stated that the students in the first class showed strong interests in Chinese characters and Chinese culture. "We will create more opportunities to get the students better understand China and learn more knowledge about China," he added.
Chinese peacekeepers donate a batch of sports equipment and office supplies to the middle school.
