December 13 marks China's 12th national memorial day for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre. The annual national memorial day serves as a deafening alarm bell reminding us that historical tragedies must never be repeated.
12月13日，是第十二个南京大屠杀死难者国家公祭日。一年一度的国家公祭日，恰似振聋发聩的警钟，提醒我们：绝不允许历史悲剧重演。
On December 13, 1937, the invading Japanese army captured Nanjing and launched a frenzied massacre lasting for six weeks. Three hundred thousand Chinese compatriots were brutally killed, with an average of one life lost every 12 seconds. The 1,218-page judgment produced by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East specifically elaborates on the atrocities committed by the Japanese invaders during the "Attack on Nanjing" and the "Nanjing Massacre". The Archives of Nanjing Massacre was included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register in October 2015. This period of history has long become a shared memory of all mankind.
1937年12月13日，侵华日军攻陷南京，随即展开了长达六周的疯狂屠杀。30万同胞惨遭杀害，平均每12秒就有一条生命消逝。远东国际军事法庭1218页判决书，专门详述了侵华日军“攻击南京”和“南京大屠杀”的暴行。2015年10月，《南京大屠杀档案》入选联合国教科文组织《世界记忆名录》，这段历史早已成为全人类共同的记忆。
War crimes cannot be erased, and the history of aggression cannot be whitewashed. Any attempt to deny or distort this period of history is a blatant provocation to human conscience and justice. This year, the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders has further collected a large amount of new evidence of the atrocities committed by the invading Japanese army. Any sophistry will easily be debunked in front of the solid evidence.
战争罪行无法抹去，侵略历史不容翻案。任何试图否认、篡改这段历史的言行，都是对人类良知与正义的公然挑衅。今年，侵华日军南京大屠杀遇难同胞纪念馆再次征集到大量日军暴行的新证，任何狡辩在如山铁证面前都将不堪一击。
However, some right-wing forces in Japan have been acting retrogressively on historical issues. They deliberately evade and obscure war crimes, even attempting to prettify the history of aggression and shirk historical responsibilities. All their moves, from questioning the number of victims of the Nanjing Massacre, revising textbooks to downplay Japan's war crimes, to visiting the Yasukuni Shrine, where convicted class-A war criminals are enshrined, reflect their extremely wrong attitude towards their history of aggression, which seriously hurt the feelings of the people of Asian victim countries, including China.
然而，日本国内一些右翼势力，在历史问题上倒行逆施。他们刻意回避和模糊战争罪行，甚至美化侵略历史，企图切割历史责任。从质疑南京大屠杀中遇害人数，到修改教科书淡化罪行，再到参拜供奉二战甲级战犯的靖国神社……种种行径，反映出其对待侵略历史的极端错误态度，严重伤害了包括中国在内的亚洲受害国人民感情。
Furthermore, right-wing politicians in Japan continue to hollow out the pacifist Constitution, attempting to break away from the post-war system. In recent years, from hyping up so-called "external threats", taking the opportunity to significantly adjust security policies, to increasing its defense budget every year, easing restrictions on weapons exports, and seeking to develop offensive weapons and equipment, Japan has gone further and further down the dangerous path of military expansion. After taking office, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi brazenly reversed the course of history. After falsely claiming that a "Taiwan contingency" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan, she even attempts to stir up the so-called "undetermined status of Taiwan" argument. Any leniency and indulgence towards the various provocative moves of right-wing politicians in Japan will only bring the specter of militarism back to life and put the people of Asia in danger again. All countries have the responsibility and obligation to join hands to resist schemes to restore militarism and fascism and jointly safeguard the hard-won victory of World War II.
不仅如此，日本右翼政客还不断架空“和平宪法”，试图摆脱战后体制。近年来，从大肆渲染所谓“外部威胁”，借机大幅调整安保政策，到逐年增加防卫预算，放宽武器出口限制，谋求发展进攻性武器装备，日本在武力扩张的危险道路上越走越远。高市早苗就任日本首相后，更是公然开历史倒车，先是妄称“台湾有事可能对日本构成存亡危机事态”，然后又妄图煽炒所谓“台湾地位未定论”。对于日本右翼政客的种种挑衅行径，任何姑息纵容只会让军国主义幽灵复活，把亚洲人民再次置于危险境地。各国有责任也有义务携起手来，阻击任何复辟军国主义和法西斯的图谋，共同维护来之不易的二战胜利成果。
Bearing history in mind is not to perpetuate hatred, but to creat a better future. In those years, in the face of the extremely vicious Japanese invaders, the unyielding Chinese people fought gallantly, making tremendous contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. Today, as a responsible major country, China will unhesitatingly take the important responsibility of maintaining world peace, and will never allow militarism to make a comeback. Historical tragedies must never be repeated.
铭记历史不是为了延续仇恨，而是为了更好地开创未来。当年，面对穷凶极恶的日本侵略者，中国人民不屈不挠、浴血奋战，为世界反法西斯战争胜利作出了巨大贡献；今天，作为一个负责任的大国，中国将义无反顾地肩负起维护世界和平的重任，绝不允许军国主义卷土重来，绝不允许历史悲剧重演。
