BEIRUT, Jan. 5 -- At the invitation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the 24th Chinese Peacekeeping Level One Plus Hospital to UNIFIL dispatched medical personnel to the southern border area of Lebanon on January 2 to provide free dental care services jointly with peacekeepers from Spain and India.

The joint free dental care service activity was initiated and coordinated by the Civil-Military Coordination Department  of UNIFIL Headquarters, and jointly undertaken by the peacekeeping medical contingents from China, Spain, and India.

Medical personnel from India and Spain were responsible for providing dental health consultation services, while Chinese medical personnel provided basic examinations, specialized treatment, medicine delivery, health education, and other services. The activity was warmly welcomed by the local patients and villagers.

Furthermore, the Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent provided health promotion services for the villagers coming for the free medical service with pre-produced health brochures. They offered detailed explanations on the causes, hazards, and preventive measures of common oral diseases such as dental caries and periodontal disease. They also shared practical tips for improving dietary habits and daily oral hygiene practices. Additionally, they distributed painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and various other commonly used medicines to the villagers.
