BEIJING, July 28 -- A joint drill on internally displaced persons (IDPs) accommodation, led by the Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), kicked off recently at the main camp of the UNMISS. The Joint Operations Center (JOC) of the UNMISS, the UN Police, the Nepali riot squad, and the Rwandan riot squad participated in the drill.

Under the scenario of an armed conflict erupting in the mission area and a large number of refugees attempting to flock into the UN camp to seek shelter, all the peacekeeping troops carried out collaborative operations in response to the emergency. The drill aimed to further strengthen the collaboration among the peacekeeping units from different countries and enhance the civilian protection capabilities under severe circumstances.

The commanding officers of the Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion discuss the operational plan with peacekeeping officers from other troop-contributing countries.
